The State Soil of Wyoming is The Forkwood Soil Series

Wyoming State Soil
The Forkwood series consists of very deep, well drained soils formed in slopewash alluvium derived from interbedded shale and argillaceous sandstone.
These soils are used principally for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. The native vegetation consists of big sagebrush, bluebunch wheatgrass, Sandberg bluegrass, and needleandthread.
