The citizen’s of West Virginia had a bit of trouble deciding which city would be their capital city. The capital city of West Virginia bounced back and forth between two cities over the course of 14 years: Wheeling and Charleston.
When West Virginia became a state in 1863, the capital was located in Wheeling.
The State Legislature designated Charleston as the capital city in 1870. Kanawha County citizens...
