Beautiful Nebraska was written in the 1960s by Jim Fras (music) and Guy G. Miller (lyrics) who lived in Lincoln, Nebraska at the time. Fras was a Russian immigrant and wanted to pay tribute to his adopted state. When the state song was being considered, Fras lobbied hard for his song to be the one and in 1967 it was finally made official.
